India eyeing Star-Wars !! That’s a wow!
India’s Defence Development & Research Organisation (DRDO) is developing a A-sat, anti-satellite extra atmospheric kill vehicle. This vehicle would destroy hostile enemy satellites in orbit guided by Lasers. It is a part of India’s Ballistic missile Defence program. The parts of the actual prototype are scheduled to be ready between 2010 and 2014, according to ISRO officials in January 2010 at the 97th Indian Science Congress. A prototype interceptor missile with range of 120-140 km’s was scheduled to be tested in September 2010 ( not to be confused with the 5th September BRAHMOS test), though there is no news as of now on that. This satellite is supposed to be using Lasers or will be guided by strong Lasers. Hah, who doesn’t like the star-wars & those whizzing-Lasers-in-every-direction science fiction movies. Now my country is going to have that kind of a sci-fi defense! With India getting this she would join the league with US, China & former USSR. That’s a feel good– definitely! I am anxiously waiting for an update!
